I love NYC despite…
Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind. ~Seneca
A quote from one of my favourite philosopher of all time and as usual she is right! It has been a long time since I travelled with friends. It has been a while since I had a real vacation…yes I do take some days off at work but its usually for a preparation of an exam, career related seminars and all things academic and boring…SO when a very close friend of mine from Miami is traveling to New York with her best friend I decided to join in the fun.
Spontaneously I booked a ticket to NYC and just crossed my finger that my boss would let me take 2 days off work even if I already took a week off the other week. Luckily my boss approved my vacation and voila I’m all set for NY for the weekend. I was so excited since this was my first time in NYC and I could meet up my friend Michelle whom I haven’t seen for 5 years…and ok i got to admit it I would love to go SHOPPING too..Hello! New York ! the home of Fashion Week!
BUT as I was all hyped up on my NYC trip….a sad news broke out and that is Hurricane Irene was coming and it would hit the east coast including NYC! what a bummer…but I figured I don’t want to cancel on the trip, and besides it would take me hours to reschedule and x amount of $ to rebook…
To make the long story short…I went to NYC despite the weather….
But meeting up with Michelle and her best friend Katrina was worth so worth the trip. Screw you Irene! We will take NYC by storm..Here are some pics to prove it!

Taken at Time Square (L-R) kat, much, me

Us again (closer pic)

how “tourist” could this pic get. @the TKTS stairs

time square and all its craziness ( find us! and you’ll get a prize)
Met up with some friends of friends. First we crashed a birthday party and then went out for drinks with some schoolmates back in UNI

Outside Village Underground
Then the next day…subways were closed and stores were closed :-( This is the first time in years when the subway system was closed…and if you would tune in to the news it really was like the end of the world. When we woke up the streets of NY was really empty…Finally the city that never sleeps, finally took a nap. what great timing…

me, a little bit sad! only cabs were available for transit and they charge $10 per person.

at the MET stairs (woohoo Blair Waldorf moment)

at Central Park
The next day was still a no subway day but that didn’t allow us to be stuck in our hotel room…we still did went out and basically WALK around Manhattan

what a big L! since we can’t go to Staten Island

again went to Time Square and this time Anna(Kat’s friend) joined us

dropped by ST Patricks to say a little prayer.

finally found the famous LOVE structure

a slice of NY pizza

chocolate fondeau for our last dinner together for this trip…@ Max Brenner! yumyum

and then the next day..we head out to Queens to pay homage to our favourite BEE!

oh comfort food…

and then its a wrap…our last subway ride together for this trip…
My sibs has been telling me how “malas” I am,since I was not able to fully discovered NY on this trip…but I think It was meant to be so that I would have more reason to go back.
This trip has been such fun! rekindling old friendship and meeting up new ones was the highlight of the trip! also this trip has somehow bring my mojo back on..see Im actually blogging….till we meet again NYC.
P.S. Thank you for closing your stores, a blessing in disguise since I never swiped anything on this trip!
